How to Cool down with Tea

How to Cool down with Tea

July 14, 2018

We are in the middle of summer, and for most of us it means a lot of swimming, sweating, and air conditioning. So how can we cool down with our favorite beverage? Well stay tuned while I list four ways to use tea to cool yourself in these hot, humid summer days.

1. Tea popsicles

These will sure help you stay cool. Here is a simple tea popsicle recipe.

Matcha Green Tea Popsicles – Vegan and Date-Sweetened

Makes 6 – 8 popsicles
1 cup coconut cream*
1/3 cup cashews, preferably soaked 4 hours**
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup soft and pitted medjool dates, packed
1 tbsp matcha green tea powder
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
optional: 1 tbsp vodka
Instructions:
Drain and rinse the cashews and add them to your blender with the remaining ingredients. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until completely smooth. Pour the liquid into popsicle molds and freeze for several hours or overnight.
* Use full fat coconut milk and scoop the cream off the top (it helps to refrigerate it overnight, this will separate the cream from the liquid) or use canned coconut cream.

**A high speed blender is best for whirling those soaked cashews into cream. If you don’t think your blender can do the job, try substituting 3 tablespoons of raw cashew butter in place of the cashews.

2. Tea ice cream

Yes, there is such a thing as tea ice cream. Here is a delicious recipe for a cool tea treat for the summer.

Green Tea Ice Cream

Servings: 2 pints

Author: Gemma Stafford
Ingredients
14 oz (1 Can/ 400ml) sweetened condensed milk (fat-free or regular) cold
2 cups (16oz/450 ml ) whipping cream, cold
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons Matcha green tea powder
Instructions
ounces (1 Can/ 400ml) sweetened condensed milk (fat-free or regular) cold
cups (16oz/450 ml ) whipping cream, cold
teaspoons vanilla extract
tablespoons Matcha green tea powder
Place sweetened condensed milk in the fridge to keep cold.
Beat cold heavy cream on medium in a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment (or using a hand mixer) until stiff peaks form.
Turn down the speed a little and pour the condensed milk into the whipped cream. (Stir in vanilla extract now if desired).
Then, turn up the machine speed again and whip until your mixture is thick and to stiff peaks.
Now that you have your ice cream base add in your Matcha green tea powder and mix on medium speed until the mixture is a neven mint green color.
Transfer your ice cream to a large resealable container and freeze at least 6 hours or overnight before scooping and serving.

3. Frozen tea ice cubs.

This is  a fun way to enjoy tea and cool down at the same time.  To make just prepare a ice cube tray. Then cut open a tea bag or sprinkle some loose leaf tea into each of the molds. Freeze as normal. Now you have a pretty ice and cool tea for any beverage.

4.  Cooling tea mask

Yes, there is a mask that can help you unwind and cool down after a hot day in the sun.  Here are a few to try.

  1. cooling green tea- the body shop
  2. Cooling Chamomile-Sephora
  3. Cooling rose-Peter Thomas Roth

I hope you give these ideas a try.  Let me know in the comments what help you cool down in the summer.

Have a great weekend,

Alyssa
