In today’s cleaning article, we will be looking at how to clean your tea accessories. Sometimes I forget to clean my tea accessories and find that they not only lack their luster, but make my whole tea assembly look tired and dirty. Something that is opposite of what an afternoon tea should inspire and fulfill.
So let us get started cleaning all of those assessors that make our afternoon tea beautiful and serene.
Tea Trays
I don’t know what I would do without my tea trays. They help me take my tea in any room in the house. However, since they are used so often, they can get very dirty. And I certainly am one to forget to clean these everyday items.
If you have a glass tea tray, use half and half of vinegar and water to make the glass sparkle again. If you have a wood tea tray, shake out any crumbs beforehand outside, then wet a damp cloth or sponge and gently wipe. You don’t want to accidentally scratch the wood.
If you have a sliver tea tray, just follow the instructions on my last post on” How to Clean Silver ” and your tea tray should look like new.
Tea Strainers and Sleeves
If you have a reusable tea sieve, then put them into a laundry pouch and wash them on a gentle cycle.
If you have a traditional tea strainer, then soak the strainer with warm water, vinegar, and baking soda, to remove the grim.
After waiting for them to soak for a few minutes, take out your tea strainers and gently dry with a clean dish towel.
Tea Spoons
I have some handpainted tea spoons. So I wash them very carefully, as I don’t want the paint to dull. I usually just wash with warm water and a mild soap and that does the trick. If you have small silver spoons, us the methods I mentioned for cleaning silver. If you have metal spoons, then clean first with warm water and soap, then soak, if need be, in vinegar and baking soda to remove tougher stains.
Cleaning your Tea Kettle
I don’t think this item ever gets clean, even though us tea lovers use it constantly. To clean, just use warm water and soap. If you have stains, or the bottom is quite dirty, then use the same mixture of baking soda and vinegar to make a paste. Let sit for a couple of minutes and rinse and wash again in warm water.
