My Favorite Bars

My Favorite Bars

June 27, 2018

I have been loving these bars lately. I am getting tired of having the traditional breakfast of cereal, and it is too hot for oatmeal. So a few weeks ago I decided to try something new. These bars are great for breakfast or an afternoon snack. Or if you are like me, you will want to munch on them all day long.

The recipe is found here at the Food Network.  But what I love about this recipe is that you can tailor it to whatever you fancy.  Last week, my sister and I were a little tired of the jam, so we had the idea of making a  Reese peanut butter cup creation with the bars.  Let me tell you that they were the most delicious bars I have ever tasted.  If you want to make the Reese Peanut Butter bars, just follow the directions for the base, then instead of adding jam to the middle, cook the bar part.  This step is essential because it is very hard to spread peanut butter on a floury texture. When the bar part is cooked and golden brown, warm the peanut butter. You will need about 1/2 cup or more if you want a very nutty flavor. Then just spread as usual, then melt some chocolate and drizzle this on top or you can just put about two handfuls of chocolate chips on top instead. Spread the remaining bar mixture on top and bake until golden brown. Trust me, you will want to eat the whole bar once it comes out the the oven

Today I am having these bars with the tea that we purchased at the Tea and Spice Exchange. I will post separately what I think about this tea.  Now to enjoy my tea and bars.

See you later,

Alyssa
